Believe it or not, we at Hungry Auckland sometimes don’t feel like going out to a restaurant. Yes, we realise that may come as a shock to most of our readers but after one particularly tiring weekend all we wanted to do was lay on the sofa and order take out.
But we wouldn’t be Hungry Auckland if we were going to be happy with any kind of take away. It had to be high quality, satisfying and cooked with precision. With this in mind we fired up our UberEATS app and scrolled through the many options available.
With so much choice we started to narrow down our options. The quality of restaurants is extensive and the fact we could get a restaurant quality meal delivered directly to our door really delighted us.
We decided on Miss Moonshine’s as we’d not had chance to dine in the actual restaurant yet but it has firmly been on our list for a while. Not long after ordering, a knock came on the door and our feast had arrived.
We began with the pulled pork burger with Moonshine sauce in a brioche bun topped with a huge pickle.
Next up was the beef short rib – a mammoth portion of 300 grams of beef served on top of pickled vegetables and a smoked bone sauce.
The beef brisket consisted of 250grams of meat finished with truffle butter and good old fashioned grits – a real Southern speciality!
All of the meat was pit roasted and fall apart tender. It literally melted in the mouth and the smoky sauces elevated the taste even further.
For our side dishes we went for the cauliflower cheese with truffle crumb, the pig tail fries with aioli and special mention must go to the mac n cheese balls. Served with a bacon crumb and truffle mayo – they were ridiculously moreish.
