The rain has finally abated and summer is arriving in Auckland. After leaving work on Friday and walking out into bright sunshine we decided to have a picnic in the garden. But could we be bothered going to the shops and purchasing all the food? The answer was a resounding no so we knew what we had to do………
We fired up our UberEATS app, lay out our picnic blanket and waited for our picnic feast to arrive. We decided to pretend we were in the Mediterranean and as a result thought Italian food would be in keeping with this.
Papa’s Italian Eatery provided the goods and we set out our food and tucked in.
Polenta Chips were seasoned beautifully with a crunchy bite and a piping hot soft interior.
The Arancini Balls were good value for money but we have to say the filling was slightly on the dry side. However this was nothing that a good dunk in the accompanying aioli couldn’t sort out.
The Chicken Tortellini consisted of chicken filled pasta shells in a tomato based or blue cheese sauce, topped with mushrooms, and mozzarella. We went for the tomato based sauce and this was the stand out dish of the whole meal.
Another dish Papa’s got completely right was the beef lasagne in a tomato based sauce and topped with mozzarella. This was so cheesy and comforting, exactly what you want lasagne to be. A very generous portion – share this with someone unless you have a very healthy appetite.
We had to balance out all those carbs with a bit of salad didn’t we? And not just any salad, the Greek salad was perfectly balanced with feta, olives and plump, juicy tomatoes.
If you’d like to picnic without all the prep, download the UberEATS app – if you refer a friend they get a discount off their first order and you get UberEATS credit. Now summer’s here, there’ll be plenty of time for picnics!
