Legs of jamon hang from the ceiling…

The seating is communal and is situated out on Snickel Lane – an under cover dining precinct. Don’t worry – there are heaters for winter.

As is customary with tapas, all items are designed to be shared and roughly two to three dishes per person is a good guideline to follow. It’s all so delicious that we wouldn’t blame you for ordering more.

We enjoyed the croquettes that were piping hot and bursting with cheese and soft, fluffy mashed potato.

We shared a couple of the Pintxos – first up was the Tuna Belly, Piquillo Capsicum and Rosemary Olive Oil on toasted bread.

Second was the Spanish Cured Ham with a Tomato, Garlic and Basil bread.

The simple things are usually the best aren’t they? A plate of Spanish cured ham was accompanied by some tomato, garlic and basil bread.

A staple of any tapas restaurant are the famous Patatas Bravas. Cubed, roasted potatoes smothered in a flavoursome tomato sauce and topped with mayonnaise.

The broken eggs consisted of fried eggs, Spanish cured ham and scallops potatoes. You can never have too much cured meat in our opinion.

To balance out all the carbs we opted for the Tuna Mediterranean Salad which was drizzled in balsamic vinegar and olive oil.

Stand out dish was the Slow Cooked Lamb served with garlic potatoes and a lovely garlicky, oily sauce. Perfect for mopping up with some of that garlic, basil and tomato bread.

We were celebrating a birthday and the staff at Madriz went above and beyond in providing us with this beautiful cake and portioning it up for us.

Light and fluffy with a citrus kick, it was just what we needed after all of those carbs.
The owner from Madrid and his wife were very welcoming, we really enjoyed the Spanish experience they offered.
If you are looking for a taste of Spain, we can’t recommend Madriz enough.
